With Free City in danger of shutting down, Guy and Molotov Girl must team up to save the day. Starring Ryan Reynolds as the titular NCP, Free Guy centers on an unassuming bank teller who faces every day with a cheerful smile, even when he's frequently beaten and held up by gun-toting criminals. If the reviews are to be believed, this week's Free Guy will be among the best of the best, though it isn't technically based on a specific game. On the other end are the misfires, like Assassin's Creed and Warcraft. On one end of the spectrum, there are solid efforts like this year's Mortal Kombat and 2019's Detective Pikachu. Video game adaptations are notoriously hit or miss. In perhaps the most fitting marketing move of all, Free Guy gets a new line of posters parodying video games like Grand Theft Auto and Among Us.
